Green fields, hay meadows and pretty villages make this region a stunning area to take your next self catering cottage holiday

On a cottage holiday in Swaledale, you will be surrounded by a patchwork of green fields and traditional hay meadows peppered with colourful wild flowers in early summer, interspersed with old stone barns, pretty villages and country inns.

The region is fairly remote in the north of the national park and encompasses the town of Richmond; the impressive Buttertubs Pass, the elevated country road which snakes its way over the tops between Muker; Hardraw, home of England`s largest single drop waterfall and Tan Hill, the highest pub in England.

The attractive village of Muker is one of our favourite places with a lovely tearoom (their cream teas are top notch) and a lovely walk through the hay meadows at the top of the village.
