Shaw Ghyll Woods, The Pennine Way and the "Buttertubs Pass" are close by, with walks from the door to suit both the rambler and serious walker. The market town of Hawes (two miles) has a range of shops, craft centres, inns, restaurants and the famous Wensleydale Cheese Visitor Centre. Simonstone has a hotel serving excellent meals.
